Monday, September 1st....Amazing!! Legionnaires, another update has come your way. By all rights this one shouldn't even exist yet. But, as many times before - I love working on this strip and just couldn't leave it alone this weekend. It isn't like I don't have other things going on - but that is the same old story. And I said I wouldn't dwell on that stuff.
This daily format is growing on me. It does several things. It gets more material out to you Legionnaires, mainly because even a slow moving story is at least better than one that doesn't move at all, right! I hope you agree on this point with me.
It forces me to trim absolutely all the 'fat' off the story. Since it limits me to the number of panels and the way I lay them out. It gives me a whole new appreciation for the daily guys of old, after all you never really know until you try your hand at it.
It actually gives the strip kind of a whole new look. Something I always envisioned for it, just never thought it would fly but it is taking wing for sure.
Also to all the Loyal Legionnaires out there, I just can not express my appreciation to all of you. I have begun to hear from people all over the world. You are all amazing! It is for you that I want to do my best on this strip. The numbers are growing and that just proves to me that people like strips like this. Well, and it is free, ha. But, that aside I am beginning to see fans tired of the giant cross overs, costume changes for no apparent reason other than the dreaded 'update' of characters, decompressed storylines, six issue arcs written by the novelists, and scriptwriters coming into the business, and just the over all loss of fun of comics. Hopefully you will never find any of that here.
But, most Loyal Legionnaires writing in are people with the same interests that we all share, from pulp, to rocketpacks, to memories of our reading adventures at kids. If I have never said it before, thank you Legionnaires - one and all!!!!
Ok I can't hold back any longer - the Mysterious Prof. Carter ( and some of you have it right! - you know who you are) is a tip of the hat to the famous Randolph Carter of HP Lovecraft stories. (Please don't sue me, anyone out there, I can't afford it.) I always wondered what he would be like inbetween some of the stories he was in. His quest to find that other world and the old ones. And also what could of happened to him. I think we all had some fun guessing and I know I appreciated hearing all the guesses. Thanks, and maybe if I have others we can guess again, and if I have some time maybe a prize or something......we could do the 'no prize' thing, ha.
Well, Legionnaires - now I have to get back to my day job work that I bought home - Yes now it is getting so bad I have to bring it home to work on 'Labor' day....ha.

Also one more thing I just thought of - a question for you.
I have had suggestions lately for different Captain Spectre products. Every thing from Sketch Cards, to like Topps baseball cards like the old Superman series, to role playing games ( or modules). Of course I love all these ideas but if you come up with some kind of idea please let me know and maybe in the future it might happen. Of course after Chapter 4 - comes the first ever stand alone Captain Spectre comic (which I am really looking forward to working on!)

Thunder and Lightning....

-tune in again Loyal Legionnaires!!

thanks......

tom

Also the sketchbook is in hand and for sale from me!!!! If you would like like one just email the Captain and I will sign and send one out to you! $6.00 is all it takes to help support the site and get the sketchbook!!! If you are an overseas Legionnaire I will have to add just a bit of postage, sorry. Again all the money goes to buying supplies to keep the site going, like server space, paper, pens and all that stuff.
